The generous woman that Robin is, for our wedding anniversary (maybe a bit a of a birthday present as well) she got me a Sony Playstation 3, MetalGear Solid 1-4. After playing MGS1 for a little bit… I jumped right to MGS4 and WOW. Let’s put it this way… the last console system I owned was a SEGA Genesis 16. Now with a 52″ HD screen, PS3 and Dolby 5.1 surround sound, well lets say this may be a present that Robin may regret getting me when she has to start fighting me for time in frount of the TV.

David Rumsey Historical Map Collection
This link comes to me from my brother in-law. This guy has mashed Google Maps with his collection of old charts and maps. Pretty cool idea.

Well I waited long enough, and with some gentle pressure from Robin I ordered my iPhone 3G last night. I think Robin really wants my old phone. I should have my white 16GB iPhone 3G within 7-10 days. w00T!

Here is an app to add to your collection. It’s free and called Shazam. Just hold your phone up to a the radio or stereo and Shazam will identify the song in seconds. You get album art work, relevant YouTube links and the option to buy the song on iTunes.

I just found out about this story from a co-worker. I am so pumped about this.
Lost scenes from Metropolis found - Boing Boing
The original version of Fritz Lang’s fantastic science fiction film Metropolis was first seen in Berlin in 1927. Shortly after, Paramount recut the film to (over)simplify the plot. From then on, it was thought that at least 1/4 of the whole film ended up on the editing room floor where it was swept into the dustbin of history. Recently though, much of the lost footage was rediscovered.

Apple’s faster, cheaper iPhone 3G goes on sale - Jul. 11, 2008
Sounds like I so made the right call in not getting in line today. A co-worker in my office reports that the Southcenter AT&T Store was sold out when they checked it out at noon today.

The iPhone 2.0 update - don’t do it, kids | The Register
For iPhone users the situation is even worse, as once the upgrade is installed they are required to register with iTunes before their phone’s service returns to operation - but with iTunes playing hard to get, that’s very difficult. Several Reg readers report being cut off, though they do have the consolation of being able to buy a copy of Super Monkey and play it.
