Well Robin started hunting for the matching chairs. Found them at Harkness, we also found a coffee table there. But we were not done yet the perfect accent pillows still elude her. They may be hiding with the area rug they need to go with.
After two days of going to and from every furniture store in Western Washington, we found the new couch for the front room. “I am sofa king tired”
While watching the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street , I noticed that Jack Alberston had a uncredited cameo. Well while in IMDB looking for photos, I ended up at the CED Magic website. CED was a RCA Video format from the 80’s where video was stored on vinyl disc. Yes, vinyl disc. There was even a player. The CED website is a little primitive, OK it too looks like it’s from the 80’s if we had HTML then, but has lot’s of info.
Natalie is taking off tomorrow for Yakima for 6 days of Police Explorer “Boot Camp”. Where she will get to do mock crime scenes and a lot of push-ups. You can learn more about WLEEA and their Winter Academy on their web site. Here is a photo gallery of last years Winter Academy.

One of the things about running on a generator is that when the power comes back, you have no idea. So I was upstairs looking out my window, and noticed the beautiful Christmas lights in the cul de sac. So after throwing the breakers, shutting down the generator, re-wiring the panel, and reconnecting the mains.. we are on the grid baby!
Well this afternoon we are seeing crews working on the lines near the airport at the top of the hill behind us. We hope to be back on the grid in the next 24-48 hours! There is a lot of damage to keep them busy.
I just saw this video on KING5 at noon today. This is awesome! A man with wings and jet pack. In flight for 7 mins and parachutes to ground when done!
A big thank you to John at the office who help me get over my fear of high voltage. With his help and tutelage we were able to safely hook up the generator to the house. The Haws Fortress is up and running on emergency power. Our DSL and phone lines are up. The furnace is running, everything is cool Warm! And most importantly the espresso machine! The espresso machine actually causes the generator to work harder than the refrigerator or furnace fan! it causes the lights to flicker.
We saw utility crews in the area last night when I got home. However I think it was just some sort of survey or re-con crew. A quick drive around the block this morning shows no work on the lines yet.
It’s funny how you get paranoid in situations like this. A 6:15 AM this morning as I was filling up the gas tank on the generator, I noticed a truck drive slowly in the entrance of our cul de sac. A few mins later I hear someone trying to talk to me from the street level. I could not hear them over the generator so, I walked down. Some young guy claiming to have run out of gas. I told him I had just put the last five gallons in my generator (true), but was suspicious. So I told him where the gas station was .5 miles down the road.
After I started the generator, I drove down the street and and saw him walking down the street with a gas can. So figured it was not a scam, and gave him a ride to Anderson’s and back. Guess I have been watching Jericho too much
