U.S. Gets Its First Net-Addiction Rehab Center

reSTART, a new Internet addiction recovery center 25 miles outside of Seattle, features a 45-day tech-detox that includes group counseling, individual therapy, 12-step meetings, wilderness adventures, fitness programs, and even vocational coaching and academic tutoring. Located in a residential-styled home, the center sits on five acres of Pacific Northwest forest land, home to deer, raccoons, and goats.

Three Indicted in Largest Corporate Identity Theft Case in History – FOXNews.com

According to the Justice Department, the suspects used a sophisticated hacking technique called an “SQL injection attack,” which “seeks to exploit computer networks by finding a way around the network’s firewall to steal credit card and debit information.”

OK, those of you that know this stuff… SQL Injection? WTF? One of the oldest methods of getting into a Database over the web. I wonder just “how sophisticated” these attacks really were. Sigh.

Twitter crippled by denial-of-service attack | The Social – CNET News

Either that or it was the Freemasons really angry about the whole John Quincy Adams twittering thing.

Twitter was inaccessible for several hours on Thursday morning, followed by a period of slowness and sporadic time-outs (and more outright downtime). The company is blaming an “ongoing” denial-of-service attack but has not said anything further.

Peninsula Light on Twitter

Peninsula Light Co. (PenLightCo) on Twitter.

My electrical utility (Peninsula Light) is on twitter. Looks like they have been there since last may with a total of 5 tweets. I’m hoping this is useful during the winter when we have the most power outages.

Even though they are promoting their twitter feed on the front page, they only have 64 followers. I wonder what that says about the demographics of their customers.
