The Hoviks Get a New Family Member

Little Girl

Last Saturday my sisters family lost their cat Mocha to old age. This hit their youngest Sami pretty hard. They are going to her getting a Pixie-Bob kitten Labor Day weekend. The name of the new family member is still under debate, the breeder has named her “little Girl” – pictured above. The Pixie-Bob is a very interesting breed that started here in the PNW. It’s known for having more of a dog manner about it. They are even known to play fetch and play in water. Oh yeah, and it has six toes :)

Small World

Remember the story about the two 12 year old kids that tried to poison their teacher with strawberry lip gloss? I even posted the item here on HAWS.NET.

Well it turns out that the victim is actually my related to me. She is the daughter of my maternal Great Aunt. A cousin that I have not seen in 15+ years.

Natalie is back home

Natalie after her jaw surgeryNatalie came home this afternoon and she is doing great. She is communicating via gestures along with paper and pen.

A Day for Family Gatherings

Today Nat has her corrective jaw surgery — yeah, they are going to cut her jaw, remove a few centimeters of bone and stick it back together. We will let you know how it goes over the course of the day. Robin is with her family at the hospital, I will be spending the day with my mom to comfort her over the loss of her sister yesterday.

Update: Word from Robin – Natalie is doing just fine. She is sipping water and writing things down on her dray eraser board.

A Sad Day

My maternal aunt Pat passed this morning. I am so glad I got to visit with her on the 4th. She will be greatly missed. Robin and I are spending the day with mom until we have to go to dinner. In the greatest of Ying and Yang traditions, not only does today mark Pat’s passing, but today is our 15 year anniversary.

Happy 4th of July

P7040092.JPG We spent the holiday at Sue’s condo that overlooks the Sound and Port Orchard. It was a spectacular display. We could see part of the Seattle displays, even Tacoma. I posted some of the photos on flickr. A big thanks to Sue for sharing her place with us!
