So I took time this morning to do the Kalalau Trail. I brought my KX3 with me too. So at about mile 3 I was on a ridge where I setup the center feed 10m dipole antenna between a couple of trees and start calling CQ. I got a response, from a call sign in New Zealand – however just as I was confirming signal strength the batteries gave out. I had used it so much the day before and did not pay attention to the voltage levels. It was heart breaking for me, as well as a lesson learned. Check the battery level!
The hike itself was wonderful! I was so taken in with the beauty that I failed to take a lot of photos. Sorry about that.
