Before There was Twitter and Facebook

Before Twitter there was Western Union

Before Twitter there was Western Union

I was scanning some more family photos and documents, and came across this Western Union “Storkgram”. For you young folks, a telegram was the Twitter of it’s day. I can not help but see how the technology has changed in my lifetime.  This telegram was sent to my Grandfather  from my father when I was born. Besides my father having to pay per word on this bit of communication that took hours to be delivered, I’m sure that Western Union was able to charge him an extra few cents to use the “Storkgram” paper instead of the standard message.

While we are at it, 50 years from now are people going to find printed Facebook and Twitter pages about their birth announcements? I just realized too that this is my father tweeting in 1958!

Twitter is now worth millions of dollars yet we do not pay for it as consumers. Think about this for a moment, how does Twitter make money?

This is an Elegant Solution to the Multiple Remote Problem

Apple Researching Methods for Pushing User Interfaces to Accessories from Media Devices – Mac Rumors.

So imagine your multi function remote has a touch screen, like everything else does these days. Instead of the logitech approach where the remote has to figure out how to communicate with the device and translate all the functions to the 120 buttons on the remote. the device your controlling send the information it needs. So your new universal remote will act and feel just like the remote that came with your media device. Or as in the cast of an iPod or iPhone and a GUI that matches the original device.

Miss Exide

Scan 22Was scanning some old photos at moms last night. Here is one of me and my neighborhood buddy Ken. I think this was taken in 1968. Not sure about the date.

Thanks to a reader (see comments) they were able to date the photo to 1964, the only year Miss Exide had a blue cowling. That put me at 6 years old in the photo. Now if someone could only tell me what ever happened to Ken.

Oh please tell me this is not true!!

So I just ran the sound for a 20th Century Fox Corporate meeting. They were discussing what it would take to buy a senator to make netflix and movie streaming illegal. WTF. Comments? : reddit.com.

Oh I hope this is not for real. If this is true we have to stop this!

Don’t Go Guys, It’s a Trap!

Vatican Scientists Seek Evidence Of Alien Life : NPR.

Vatican invites scientist to talk about alien life.  Don’t go, it’s a trap. I’m sure that’s how they got Galileo. They probably invited him over for lunch one day and asked “Have you see what we have done with the basement?”…
